About Me
I am delighted to have the opportunity to work and learn with 7th graders at Flagstaff Academy. The liminal space of the 7th grade can be a challenging time, and I am delighted to help guide students through it. I know we are going to have a great year together!
My journey into this profession started over twenty years ago. I realized I wanted to be a teacher when I was studying abroad in Oxford, England. I was so inspired by all that I was seeing and learning that I couldn’t wait to pass it on to students! I came home and completed my B.A. English with an emphasis in education at the University of Northern Colorado. These experiences ignited a passion for life and learning that has fueled my 20 years working as a licensed educator. My past experiences include teaching 7th and 8th grade ELA at a private school, leading students on educational and humanitarian trips, coaching basketball, track, and cross-country, designing and teaching science camps, facilitating parent-child workshops that build socio-emotional skills, writing curriculum for coaches in conjunction with the WNBA, and having loads of fun as a 5th and 7th grade teacher at Flagstaff. I am extremely excited to use my combined experience to create a safe, inspiring, rigorous learning environment where all of my students can thrive!
On a personal note, I am a Colorado native whose power-up is spending time in our glorious mountains! I love hiking, camping, paddle boarding, skiing, and just being in nature. I also love spending time with my husband, three children, and our dog, laughing with friends, playing basketball, traveling, eating brunch, dilly-dallying in bookstores, trying new things, reading, and running.
