J.R. Kerbel, Elementary School Technology Teacher
Hello Dragons, and welcome to the 2023-24 school year! My name is Mr. Kerbel and I am excited for this school year. This year our Technology classes will be in the same lab under the name of the Flagstaff Elementary Innovation Lab. Students in Kindergarten-5th grade will be exploring different areas in the field of STEM along with opportunities for digital art. The Innovation Lab has many opportunities for student to create, collaborate, examine and innovate.
Background- I grew up in Michigan and made my way out to Colorado to attend Western State Colorado University in Gunnison in 1992. I have taught in many areas including New Mexico, Michigan, Bolivia, and here in Colorado. My education was continued at the University of Nevada Las Vegas where I received my Masters Degree in Special Education. After a few years away from teaching to be a stay at home dad, I found my passion of teaching technology and added an endorsement of Instructional Technology to my teaching license. I live in Longmont with my wife, our 10-year-old son and our dog Destiny. One of my favorite hobbies is fly-fishing and I am an avid Colorado and Michigan sports fan.
